Did you uncheck use DDE? If not you're opening the file twice, or trying
to.
When you turn off DDE that means that each file you double-click opens in
its own instance of Excel. Some people want that and some don't.

|I think I found a fix, but it's giving me another error now.
|
| I went to Start -> Control Panel -> Folder Options -> File Types and
clicked
| XLS. Under there I clicked ADVANCED, then OPEN, then EDIT. At the end of
the
| application to open I put "%1" with the quotes.
|
| That makes my XLS files open instantly upon double clicking, but if I do
not
| edit the file it'll give me an error message upon exiting. It will say
| "Windows cannot find 'C:\filename.xls'. Make sure you typed the name
| correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the Start
button,
| and then click Search."
|
| As long as I do something, such as click once, it'll allow me to close
| without the error message. I am not totally satisfied with this
work-around,
| but I'm more satisfied than the previous problem. :)
