I disagree.

Spreadsheets aren't 'inherently easier' than databases
....

For you they may not be easier. But if databases were as easy as
spreadsheets for most users, why aren't more people using databases vs
spreadsheets?

and your query is too verbose.

Select A + B as AB from Table

Good point.

it's not just a question of 'dragging the fill handle'

what if you're wanting to fill non-consecutive ranges?

you chipmunks like having things like print headers; etc-- so you'll
drag your fill column to range A10:A50, A52:A92, A94:A134; etc
....

So you don't even know how to add print headers in Excel? If there are
Excel users who do this sort of things manually in the work*** itself
(and this is a BAD IDEA), they could still fill A10 through A132, then
insert new, blank rows 51 and 93.

Maybe you can only figure out pasting into nonadjacent ranges, but it's
clear now that your Excel skills are between novice and intermediate.

your dip*** 9th grade teacher should have taught you about databases
instead of spreadsheets.

She was properly more interested in teaching about proofs.

your dip*** college accounting teacher should have taught you about
databases instead of spreadsheets.

Never took accounting.

yes; I have found many vague references to how excel is 'based on jet'
but I am looking for a definitive answer before i post something
halfway misleading.

You mean post MORE [halfway?] misleading stuff?

it is a fact that project; outlook; exchange; windows; active
directory; etc-- these all use JET technology.
....

Windows? Vista maybe.

I just hope that you kids start using google spreadsheets... i mean;
simple changes like 'multi-user edits' are going to really drive a
stake into redmond.
....

Remains to be seen. If Google Spread*** is underpowered compared to
Works in terms of formulas/calculation, it's no threat at all. And
it'll be interesting to see what happens when multiple users try making
simultaneous changes to multiple cells.

You may be more fascinated by multiple user access and need nothing
more than SUM and COUNT functions, but you're not a representative
spread*** user.
