That can be disabled in the Options/Error checking tab. Either disable all
error checking or just number stored as text.

I'm running Excel 2002 for a spread*** to keep track of access codes for
a
security system. Some of the feilds start with a zero, so I have the cell
formatted as text. When I enter the number I'm getting a small green
triangle in the upper left hand portion of the cell. When I put my mouse
over it, I get the message "the number in this cell is formatted as text
or
preceded by an apostrophe." The only way i can keep the leading zeros is
to
ignore error. I even get this message if I put any number in that does
not
start with zero. Does anybody have any ideas on how I can correct this,
as
the entire *** is almost affected by this.
Thanks!
