Best thing you can do, if reregistering does not work, uninstall Office, then
reinstall it.

: Well, I really don't know what else to tell you, I am not
: making this up. Here let me explain in more detail (I
: don't really know why this makes a difference anyway, but
: what the hell).
:
: 1.) I went to store to purchase PC. I = Jeff
: Store = WalMart PC = Compaq
: 2.) I plug in PC and start using PC
: 3.) I load Microsoft Office '97
: 4.) I notice PC has Microsoft Office 2003
: 5.) I think to myself, wierd, I was not supposed to get MS
: Office with the machine.
: 5.) When I open an excel document (attached in email, on
: the web, whatever), the PC defaults to opening Excel '03
: for these documents. However, you can not actually open
: the document because it wants a product key. Microsoft
: gives you the option to purchase this online for $XX, then
: they give you the product key. Do you see the clever
: little marketing scheme here used by the great Microsoft?
: Further questions about that should be directed to
: Microsoft or Compaq.
: 6.) I remove the MS Office '03 files
: 7.) PC still does not think MS Office '97 should open
: everytime I want to open a MS Office document.
:
: Conclusion - MS, still wanting to make more money, makes
: it difficult for the end user. Does that make sense?
