ok,

here's what i have

two columns of information, the first column has one word in a col and
nothing in b col. i was trying to select the area on the page since
these names and groups change with every different file i bring in.
excel seems to "hard code" in the range selected. i need it to just
fill in the blanks on column a with the cell directly above it and then
paste the values to column a.

tia... lakey :confused:

what i have
=========
name1
group1
group2
group3
name2

group3
group4
group5

what i need
========

name1 group1
name1 group2
name1 group3
name2
name2 group1
name2 group2
name2 group3
name2 group4
name2 group5
