The "chicken soup" solution that cures everything (unless it doesn't)...
1. Delete everything in the Temp folder dated prior to today ( Start | Run | %temp%).
2. Uncheck all "Add-ins" in Tools | Add-ins.
3. With Excel closed and after step 2 above...
Delete the user8.xlb (xl97) or Excel*.xlb file - (use lose all Menubar/Toolbar customization)
4. Run Disk Cleanup and Disk Defragmenter
5. Get plenty of rest. <g>

Ever since downloading (28/09) Office 2003 Service Pack2 the larger Excel
files have taken a while (some 10 seconds) before starting to save to disk.
I have put this down to something in SP2 - although it may be coincidentally
something more sinister.
Has anyone else experienced this?
