Hi
First: NEVER save directly to a floppy disk. This is one of the main
causes for corrupted files. ALWAYS save to a harddisk and manually copy
the file

For your question: check:
http://www.contextures.com/xlfaqApp.html#Unused

to re-set the used range

Unable to reduce file size. Unable to 'delete' excess cells.
