one reason is that it currently functions better than MS's website
Another reason is that a newsreader *has always functioned better* than the
MS web interface. In my other post I link to a protocol for setting up a
newsreader (such as Outlook Express) to read these messages.

As I said in a reply to another of your messages:
"Don't use a faulty website when you should be using the newsgroup
directly.

Those of you who are using the broken web interface will of course
presumably still not be able to read my reply, or the countless other
replies to similar questions over the past few days, but if and when you
do
eventually read these replies, you will hopefully then decide to use the
newsgroup directly, or you might use Google's web interface, which isn't
the
ideal way of posting to the group but it does have a very good archive
search (inherited from Deja News).

David,
I'm currently using Google, I've previously used Microsoft's site but
I've never used a newsreader to access these discussions, is that what
you mean by a "sensible method"? I know a little about excel but I
freely admit that I know nothing about newsreaders or any other method
of accessing these discussion forums other than through a website.
Could you possibly briefly explain what method you use and why you
think that's the best way (if, indeed, you think that). Clearly one
reason is that it currently functions better than MS's website but are
there any other good reasons?
Thank you for your time.
