Disappearing Pics in Header - Excel 2003

When emailed, pictures (jpgs) i have inserted into the header of an Excel
2003 document disappear (i.e. they don't print and aren't in print preview)
is there any way around this or is it a known problem,

PS Email used Outlook 2003.
