Harlan - Your formula (assuming A is coded as 1) correctly identifies
AKQJ10 as a straight but not A2345.

How to allow for both in a manageable formula?

My model codes A as 14 because in general this is more convenient for
comparing hands to determine the winner.

My next task is to identify straight flushes when the suit of each card
is in column B, while also allowing for both types of straight. I shall
work on this and ask for help if needed!

Can I also thank everyone who responds to these things - it is truly
amazing to have access to free help like this from the best minds in
the business.

Bill
