subfolders in Outlook Express 6

Hi..I'm stumped at how to prevent main folders from dropping down to reveal
all my subfolders! I have many sub folders in most of the main folders. It
makes a time consuming clutter to keep closing those I don't want to work
with.
No answer in options/preference settings, or is this just a wish list item?

help appreciated. Thank you.
