I am reading Pro WPF with VB 2008 by Matthew MacDonald (Apress -- 2008)

Chapters 6 & 7 deal with the subject of my message. However, the
explanation the author provides apparently assumes some expertise I do not
have. I am an experienced VB.NET programmer and user of the .NET Framework
SDK but never have looked much under the hood. Perhaps that is my problem.

Does anyone know of a better reference for these subjects? Since these
concepts seem to be critical to understanding how to program WPF
applications, I need to understand them before moving forward. Any help with
a book, paper, or website with a basic, clear explanation of these features
is appreciated.
