Re: VB.NET 2008 not backward compatable?

I have admitted I'm wrong and have no problem with that - the runtime will
fit on a single floppy. As stated though, it won't leave room for much of
anything else, which still means splitting the install across multiple
disks.

How come you won't address any of the other questions I asked you - you
seemed intent on using the word "wriggle" over and over, but don't seem to
want to answer any of the other points, like the fact that a VB6 app
complete with installer had to be spread across multiple disks of the
popular media in its day, whereas a .NET app including all installer and
runtime files fits on a single disc of the popular media in its day.

And again - how much disc space do you have, Michael? Are you running short
of room to the extent that the runtime is a big problem for you to install?

By all means, feel free to keep trolling.

Actually after a quick test, the formatted free space on
a floppy disk comes in at 1.38 - so just enough to
squeeze the runtime on to.

So you admit that you were wrong then. That's a good start.

Virtually no room left for anything else

I never said there was much room left for anything else. I said that the
/runtime/ would fit, and you said it wouldn't.

but you can't squeeze the rest of your app files, the P&D
install wizard, or supporting files on there . . .

I never said you could. I said the runtime would fit, and it does.

but at least the runtime will fit on one entire floppy disk.

Ah! At last you stop your wriggling and squirming. I'm so pleased that you
have changed your mind and that you now agree that you were wrong and I
was right . . .

Of course . . . nobody in their right mind would want to
use either floppy disks or VB6 these days anyway.

. . . Oops! Looks as though I was a little premature when I said your
wriggling had stopped. It seems to have started again. Why don't you just
simply admit that you were wrong, period, and stop wriggling? You'll feel
better for it.

And just why are you so obsessed about disc useage anyway, Mike?

I'm not obsessed with it. In fact of the two of us /you/ were the first to
bring up the subject of disc useage and specifically the subject of floppy
disks, so you are the one who appears to be obsessed about it, not me! I
then said that the VB6 runtime would fit onto a single floppy disk and you
said it would not. You are wrong and I am right. That is all it was about
as far as I am concerned. A simple question of whether the runtime would
fit or not.

Mike
