ftp via open proxy - how to connect ?? vb.net

Tech-Archive recommends: Speed Up your PC by fixing your registry

Hi guys

i have posted on a similar topic to these yesterday but after a day
of
reading up i think i can now communicate my question a bit more
effectively as i have some more information on my problem

Basically i have written (or copied) code for an ftp class in vb.net.
im now using the 2.0 framework. basically this code worked great when
the ftp connection uses host/username and password criteria.

now i have found on my go live date that i must pass in proxy server
details as well as the above details to my class. i have searched
high
and low for the past 2 days on this but cant find a definitive
solution anywhere for this problem. i have found out the the proxy
type is 'open' and does not require username or password.

if anyone could give me a code snippet or point me to an article on
how to do this it would be much appreciated. i do not want to use a
third party as i think i cant be far off with my current code but i
cant find a single document to help me out.

also i dont have access to an 'open proxy' to test my ftp code as its
on site?? how can i replicate this for testing purposes ???

thanks

CG
