I have no idea what your point is.

That it can be done contrary to your earlier claim. Please re-read your reply to OP.

This is a C# newsgroup and, at best, answers may include .NET features. In that context, my original reply was correct, and when you prompted for more details, I clearly stated it's not literally impossible.

That's exactly the kind of "significant trouble" I'm talking about.

Using an API isnt trouble in my book.

That's an absurd position. You can _only_ do things using "an API" in Windows. Some are more trouble than others. There are lots of things one can do using the Windows API that are whole lot of trouble.

That's why there's no direct access to that feature in the OS (whatever else you may believe about correct UI design, using hooks is not "direct").

Please dont make it a UI design issue;

It is _entirely_ a UI design issue. It's all about how the UI behaves, and whether it's appropriate to force a specific UI behavior on an unsuspecting user.

Your claim of " a process on Windows is not permitted to force an arbitrary
window to the foreground" is patently wrong.

In the context of .NET, it's exactly correct. This is, after all, a newsgroup about C#, and by association, .NET questions.

In any case, my very first reply to you acknowledged it was possible. Whatever point you're belaboring now, it can't possibly have anything to do with the statement you're saying it does, since that statement was elaborated on in my very first reply to you.
