UserControls - Defining where child controls can go

I'm writing a UserControl that can contain other controls (Like the Panel and
GroupBox controls).

However, I now want to define the area in which these other controls can be
placed. I've seen this done in the TabControl pages - a dotted line (which
looks like a panel) defines where the controls can be placed and where they
are clipped.

Can someone please tell me how I can do this?
