NotifyIcon "sticks" to system tray after closing

I have an annoying little problem: After I close the application that uses a
NotifyIcon, the icon stays visible in the system tray. It only disappears
after I move the mouse over it.

I tried to set the visible attribute to false before closing. This does not
help either.

Thanks for any input. Dave.
