Bee..eves,
I'd like to remind you that this is an open (an is immoderated)
newsgroup. Given the task to find a C# programmer in a small time
window I felt this newsgroup would be a good place to make this post
(I have my own reasons for selecting this newsgroup, by needless to
say it's quite easy to do a little research on someone who contributes
here). Also I see no harm as this is an immoderated group and this is
a one time deal.
"... example of American arrogance". Listen, I don't take kindly to
stereotypes and that's exactly the picture you have of me (and
probably all Americans in general), this is very sad and it just
demonstrates how many cultures are being brain washed. I am quite
aware that people from all over the world post in this newsgroup. As
with most jobs, the position does happen to be tied to a specific
location which in this case happens to be in the US. But you seem to
presume that I am too shallow to realize this newsgroup has a global
user base and that I take offense to.
Had I seen a job posting in here for a location in: China, India, UK,
etc.. I would have no problem with it and honestly wouldn't give it
another thought. However you took offense to a job posting specific to
a US city, shame on you.
I'm sad that you have been mislead to believe that we all think and
act a cretin way. Many consultants I know travel around the world to
work on-site as needed, our profession is often global.
I don't know any fellow Americans who would fit your profile. We don't
walk around thinking we are better than the rest of the world, in fact
we acknowledge that we rely on the rest of the world and we respect
other cultures. Some of us have a great since of national pride, but
this should not be mistaken as disrespect for other countries and
cultures. Also when you see people proudly waving the flag it does not
mean that person agrees with everything our elected leaders are doing
in the world.
Don't be misled by ignorant teachers or a biased media, doing so would
make you no better than the arrogant American you have stereotyped me
out to be.
