Re: .NET Framework 3 runtime on Server 2008

I am not sure with the current beta.

As an example of my headache with betas, I set up a Virtual machine with the
latest VS 2008 beta. I attempted to also use SQL 2008. The problem here is
the beta .NET 3.5 framework bits are incompatbible with each other at
present. It is likely that I could dink with it and get some things working,
but it is easier to have two virtual machines than it is to continue dinking
with it.

In your case, the 3.0/3.5 bits are probably there, but not compatible with
the version of encoder you are working with.

But isn't there also a way to force an install of de complete .net 3
framework without using the ROle management tool?

It is difficult playing around with various betas, as you often have the
Framework out of sync. In short, it may not be possible to use the latest
encoder with the latest 2008 beta.

Hi there,

I'm busy trying to get the .net 3 runtime components installed on a
fresh
instal of windows server 2008 beta 3. I've installed the .net 3
framework
by
installing the application server role (default settings), but still
when
i
want to install the expression encoder it keeps on asking for the
runtime
components, when i try to install the .net 3 redistributable package it
fails
and tells me to use the role management tool, but as far as i can see
it
is
installed (i see .net framework 3 in the feature list).

Anyone a bright idea on how to get it working? :)

Thanks in advance,
Rutger
