Re: Cheap or Free Print/Preview solution needed???

Actually CR does not come with the standard version. I like CR and have CR8
developer but I don't know that I can integrate it into my application since
it is not managed code.

AIUI, as long as it will only be you that is using it, you can use the demo
version.
Only thing is, it prints some 'DEMO VERSION' rubbish at the end of any
report you produce... So actually probably won't be any good to you at all,
thinking about it. Sorry... :-)

Anyone else got any ideas??

Just out of interest, what is wrong with Crystal Reports, or doesn't that
come with the Standard version of VS2005?

Chris.

Right now it will be just for me. Until I learn it of course. Then I will
be
using it in commercial applications.

Right now I want to use it for the development of my own invoice system
that
I am going to use for myself. (Will not be sold.) -- So, I dunno if that
would be considerd a commercial application or not?

Whew, check out those prices...

I'm sure it used to be MUCH cheaper than that. I got AR for my last job,
and
granted I didn't pay for it myself, but my boss was a notorious
tight-a**.
I'm sure he would have complained about shelling out $500 dollars plus!
Mind
you it was several years ago, and was only the COM version, not the .NET
version.

If I'd have realised the cost, I wouldn't have recomended that. Sorry
:-))

Is this for professional/commercial applications, or just for your own
use?
If you're not writing for other people, you can use the demo version of
AR,
which is free but (obviously) not licenced for commercial distribution...

Chris.

Thanks for the reply ChrisM. But that package costs more than what I
paid
for
the whole developer studio. I only paid $99 for the upgrade to VS2005
Standard. I was hoping to find something considerably under that.

'Active Reports' is pretty good, and fairly cheap.
I have the VS2003 version, but I'd imagine a VS2005 must be available,
or
at
least well on the way...

Hello, I hope that I have a simple question with a simple solution.
I
currently own and use VS 2005 Standard. My dilema is that I need a
good
print/preview/reporting tool to integrate into some of my
applications.
I
DON'T want to spend a bunch of money and I would really like
something
free
if possible.

Is there anything out there, not Crystal Reports, that is easy to
use,
cheap
or perhaps free?

Thanks in advance,
nb
