Recently I have encountered a number of problems using VS2005 Standard
Edition. For some unknown reason I am not able to load any project anymore.
I've been using the product for some months.
These are some of the steps I've tried:
1. Uninstall Web Application Projects add-in. Fails with message: "Could not
load file or assembly 'sorttbls.nlp' or one of its dependencies." And the
install 'backs out".
2. Uninstall VS2005 Standard edition. Seems to work.
3. Reinstall VS2005 which takes many hours - I've done this twice.
4. Reinstall Web Application Projects.
VS2005 will not open a web application. Says it does not recognize the
project type.
Then I've gone back several days when the system was running fine using
System Restore and that did not work. devenv.exe is missing?
So I uninstalled VS2005 and tried to reinstall. Now I'm getting a message
during the install:
"The windows installer package: d:\vs_setup.msi could not be opened." It is
on the VS2005 DVD. Is there some limit to the number of times the DVD can be
used to install the system?
I'm at wits end trying to get the system operating again.
