Jason,
You didn't listen.
1) post on a windows newsgroup. This is an OS issue.
2) You obviously don't know much about VPN. You are NOT connecting one
machine with another machine. You are connecting a machine with a NETWORK
of machines. You are connecting over an encrypted connection, on the public
network. Once the connection is complete, you can IGNORE the public
network. On your side, the encryption is handled by your machine but on the
other side it is nearly always handled by the firewall device. Once you've
connected, your local machine is PART of that network. Your machine has a
new IP address ON THAT NETWORK. All the machines on that network have
private addresses too. Simply connect to one of them using the private
address.
I have run the network administration group at a dot.com. We used VPNs all
the time. This is not difficult stuff, but it is not typically explained to
developers. I am not surprised that you are not aware of it. However,
there are MANY people here, not just me, who have dealt with this stuff.
3) You got this same answer from three people. Your unwillingness to listen
does not lower our frustration at your lack of consideration.
