Might be unrelated, but we had an issue when installing .NET 3.5 as a domain admin; we had to make the account a *local* admin (i.e. add the domain account into the machines Administrators group), otherwise the install would go ape.

(no - seriously, this was reproducable, and the above fixed it...)
