RE: Deploy VS2005 Web Site Project

Hi Madison,

For ASP.NET 2.0 web site application project, it use a new develop &
compile model. When you develop the web site application in visual studio,
unlike 1.1 project, it won't generate a precompiled dll. This is because
ASP.NET 2.0 adopt a complete dynamic compile model, you can directly deploy
all the source files with aspx pages to the deployment virtual directory
and ASP.NET runtime can dynamically compile them. However, for production
deployment, you're suggested to manually perform a precompilation on your
ASP.NET 2.0 application before deploy it to production server. VS 2005
built-in features have a "publish web site" that can help precompile and
deploy application to target location, you can also use command line
"aspnet_compiler.exe" to do the precompilation. Also, ASP.NET team provide
an dedicated "web deployment project" for customized web site application
precompilation, you can use it to precompile your ASP.NET 2.0 web
application:
