Our client a leading bank has the following immediate full time requirement:

Position: IT Architect
Location: Toronto, Canada
major bank

The new senior member of the team will support in the establishing of enterprise-wide technology directions of core technologies. The technology directions should include both an enterprise perspective as well as cross-technology perspective. Collaborating with those groups in order to shorten solution delivery cycles, improve quality, and encourage reuse of technology / application / infrastructure assets across CLIENT Financial Group resulting in an integrated and cohesive Enterprise Technology Architecture.

The individual must appreciate the importance of being agile and able to work on many initiatives in the same timeframe managing expectations successfully, guiding and encouraging a balanced approach to immediate delivery and strategic investment within the contexts of CLIENT Financial Group client aspirations.

Primary Responsibilities:
· Assist in establishing enterprise-wide technology directions of core technologies such as J2EE, .NET, MS-Windows, Hardware platforms, Operating Systems, Directory Services, Storage Management, Enterprise Content Management, Collaboration, etc. For technologies owned by infrastructure specialist groups, contribute to the technology directions by providing cross-technology perspectives to ensure an integrated and coherent enterprise technology architecture.
· Research, review and set strategies for emerging technologies such as Linux, Grid Computing, Open Source and so forth.
· Should have a strong technology skill foundation demonstrable architectural and delivery experience in a wide range of technologies. Analyze CLIENT needs in technology areas such as (such as. NET, Server Consolidation and virtualization (Windows, Unix, VM, etc), Storage Management, Directory Services strategic direction) and thereby further support in the departmental agility to meet growing business demand.
· Support in the develop Technology Frameworks that assist business solutions teams within CLIENT Financial Group to shorten solution delivery cycles and raise the quality of solutions produced

Key Competencies Required:
Deep technology skills in at least four and working knowledge of three others of the following technology disciple skill areas re: architecture- technology, security, application architecture, data architecture, and general business knowledge of databases, to allow them to do cross-platform architectural consulting
· Directory Services strategic direction (especially for security, IAM, provisioning, etc),
· Open Source Strategy, Grid Computing Strategy,
· Server Consolidation and
· Virtualization Strategy (Windows, Unix, VM, etc)
· And Portal Strategy

How Time Will Be Allocated (percent):
· 50% - technology development, documentation and communication of technology architecture vision and strategy across the enterprise.
· 30% - enterprise architectural collaborating with all the delivery groups (development, operations, suppliers and partners) across the CLIENT Financial group of companies
· 10% - researching current industry and marketplace trends and associate solution derived from non Financial market sectors.
· 10% grow an awareness of our business to support an improved communications capability with the business platforms. This will support in the building of a more understanding and responsive team.

Key Organization Relationships:
· Reports to Group Manager Technology Architecture
· Infrastructure and support groups within S&T
· Application Development Groups across CLIENT
· Vendors and research groups (Gartner, GIGA, etc)

Decision authority
Recommend directions for development, implementation and support of technology architecture.
