Drawing.dll "The object is currently in use elsewhere"

I have an app which makes a number of calls to Drawing.DLL. It seems to
crash at random points during program execution. No matter how I try to
surround every call with try / catch blocks I simply cannot pinpoint the
error. The debugger takes me into the DLL's assembler code.

This indefinite use of the definite article "the object" is a common MS
figure of speech. Does anyone have any idea which object it could be that's
in use and what the problem might be ?

Bob
