Re: Looking for Fast Database

Ginny,

in that time, it was VB.Net 2005, .Net CF 2.0 and SqlCe 2.0.
Ok, development hasn't stop - but if it is corrupted, try to say this your
boss.

Carsten,

Which version of SQL CE were you using at the time? We really don't hear
about that problem much these days, and with SQL CE 3.5 you can set the
flush interval to flush writes to "disk" more often. Here's a thread about
that issue:

Hi Doug,

a couple of years before, I developed an applicaiton for WinCe 4.2 with a
database-file (sdf) on a SD card. At first, everythink was fine, but a
few month later, we had problems wirh corrupted sdf-files on the SD
cards.
We had at lot of trouble with that failure. I don't know exactly why that
happens. Some people say, that it is something with the power managment.
I think, it is better to be careful.

Carsten,

Can you explain exactly why an SD card (or any removable flash memory)
shouldn't be used for the database file?

btw, you shouldn't store database files (*.sdf) on a sdcards. it can be
dangerours and can corrupt your database.
