Philip,

I agree. In fact, I have 2 Gb and even on a relatively slow processor, the
performance isn't bad.

I would add that CF2 is a lot nicer than CF1. I would recommend at least
1GB of RAM though.

Hilton,

Yes you should feel safe. I've been using VS 2005 pretty much exclusively
since beta 2, so I think that should tell you something about how I like
it compared with VS 2003. Both versions of VS can coexist though. I've
actually found VS 2005 to be quicker on my hardware except for maybe
loading Help. There will always be updates, and certainly an update to VS
2005 is planned, but I don't think you should wait for it. The current
version is very solid.

I love the new emulators - much nicer, and the ability to connect to them
via Activesync. I love CF 2.0 - fast, solid, functional. I really love
the data tools in VS 2005 for working with SQL Mobile data. I can't think
of a single thing I like better about VS 2003 unless it's the ability to
work with old hardware, and I can't honestly say that I love old
hardware. ;-) I do have to support some occasionally though.

Hilton,

I'm hoping to download the emulator and try it there - I'm hoping it is
VS 2003 compatible (I noticed it only mentioned VS2005)

Looks like emulator requires 5.0 SDK, and 5.0 SDK requires VS2005.

Slightly OT: I've heard VS2005 is great, but has numerous bugs such as
slow text input and other things and a rumor of a large 'update' later
this year? Any truth in these rumors? Can I feel safe moving to VS2005?
I guess I will anyway, but help me remove any nervousness. Thanks! :)

Also, for those who have upgraded, would you have upgraded based solely
on its new features, or did you upgrade because of 5.0 and the new
emulators etc? [Note: your response could be a combination]

Thanks again for all the very valuable input from this group!

Hilton
