I only know of two products, one of them as get unreleased, for working with
DBF files. The one that is available today is called Codebase:
http://www.codebase.com/ I have used it and was impressed with its
performance, but the syntax is not similar to whatever Xbase language you're
probably familiar with. It's definitely worth a look if you need to work
with that file format though, and I found their tech support to be quite
good.

The one that is not released yet is VulcanDB from www.vulcandotnet.com.
