I was working with VS.NET 2003, developing Smart Device applications
with CF 1.0. The default emulator that VS.NET brings is PPC 2002
emulator.
I've downloaded Microsoft PPC 2003 SDK. As far as I understand, it's
basically for developing C++ Embeeded applications. I don't need them,
but it deserves because carries out PPC 2003 emulators as well. I've
tried PPC 2003 emulator and application works pretty well.
My real device is an iPAQ h5550 and the operating system seems to be
Windows CE 4.2, but the idea is to target more devices, even newer
devices. Windows CE 4.2 is the base of Windows Mobile 2003, isn't it?
So, the application I'm developing it's targeting PPCs with Windows
Mobile 2003 as OS.
Appart from this first download, searcing Microsoft's site I've also
downloaded Windows Mobile 2003 SE Emulator Images for PPC.
This emulators are of course newer and when I try to debug my
application into Windows Mobile 2003 Emulator, gives me a message
saying that could be appearance issues because the application was not
intially tareted for this kind of devices. This message already
appeared when deploying the application to a newer device last week.
Maybe its OS was Windows Mobile SE?
Therefore, I need to know urgently what is the relation between the
application type you choose and the target devices. That is, I'm
developing a PPC application with VS.NET 2003 (development started
before installing PPC 2003 SDK), what devices could the application
target? Should I change the application type? I think PPC application
targets more devices than Windows CE.NET applicarion, correct me if I'm
wrong.
What about Windows Mobile 5.0?
Arghhhhhhhh...........What a mess! Could anybody explain me differences
and what should I do?
Thanks very-very much.
