In article <#yDJ7U75JHA.3304@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>, Mr. Arnold <MR.Arnold@xxxxxxxxxx> writes
No, your account doesn't have full control on the folder it seems, which can be superseded by another account on the folder, like the Everyone group account doesn't have full control as an example that has superseded your user account rights.
On Vista there is an account on the folder called username (machine-name\username) that doesn't have full rights to the folder, unless you configure it to have full rights, which can even supersede an Admin user's rights on the folder if the two accounts do not match in their permissions.
The folder in question only had three users in the security tab, System, AY Silver (my account) and Administrators. All three of these had full control of the folder.
I added Everyone, and gave it full control, and that worked, so thanks to you the problem is fixed. As this is my private development machine on a home network, I'm safe with such low security!
Thanks for the reply. I must say I find Vista's security features very confusing. I have no idea what they had in mind when they designed it, but it's got me baffled!
Thanks again
