Hi Rob,
When you multipost, you send a separate messages to every newsgroups, when
you cross post you add in the newsgroup line more newsgroups.
Many of the regulars are active in more newsgroups, when we see that another
one has given an answer and that is correct in our opinion, than we do not
add again. If we see there is maybe a mistake made (that happens often, not
express but because of interpreting a line in another way) we correct each
other.
Sometimes a question can be viewed from more points and sometimes a question
cannot be answered completely. With cross post you can than give a not
complete answer.
Mostly a not opened question will be looked at, when it is a multipost you
cannot see if there was an answer. I can assure you as example that when
there is an question about Oracle in this newsgroup I do not even look to
it. While when it comes as a post the languages.vb newsgroup I tell there
that, it can better be asked in this newsgroup. With a cross post there is
no need to give that answer.
I hope that this explains it a little bit?
Cor
