When I try to start my pc. It goes into what I call a looping type of
thing,
it will try to start winxp a window will pop-up like xp is going to
start
then screen will show the page for start in safe mode, safe mode
w/command
prompt, etc, I tried starting in safe mode and other prompts on this
page
everything but nothing seems to work. When I try to start in safe mode
or any
other prompt a screen comes up with a bunch of text then goes right
back to
the same screen. So I talked w/a few buddies and determined harddrive
was
screwed up. I do not want to format because I wanted to keep some of
the
files on the drive. I have a xp pro cd and tried to boot from cd and
that did
not work. Also my pc has no 3.5floppy drive to boot from. I am at a
loss any
help would be appreciated. Thanks, Bill
Ok, well first thing you need to do is go into your BIOS by pressing
the Delete key just before your PC starts up. then, you go into standard
CMOS or BIos features not sure which one but, one of those shows a list
of things in this order. Floppy , HDD, CDROM, the last one has no effect
in this so its not really important. Now you have to highlight Floppy,
then click enter, scroll down to CDrom in that little menu that pops up,
click enter. Then what you do next is go down to the default CDrom the
first one i mentioned. highlight it then click it scroll down to floppy
thn there you go. Click delete once. then go down to Save & quit, click
y and then enter. then BOOM! there you go. you just made it so your Pc
will run a disc before your hard drive. (no actual boom involved).
