looking for a c# ide

Hello,

I am looking for an inexpensive IDE in which to build C# applications. I am
tired of the way that Microsoft ties VS in to a specific .NET framework. For
example, I would like to install the .net 2.0 sdk and have my current IDE
work with it.

VS.net 2003 is apparently tied to .net 1.1 only, while VS.net 2005 is tied
to .net 2.0 only. So, you can't use 2005 to build 1.1, and you can't use
2003 to build 2.0. Forced ide upgrades and downgrades is just ridiculous.

So, in a nutshell, I'd like to find a c# ide with which I can associate
various .net sdk versions (1.1, 2.0, >2.0) with minimal fuss. Any
recommendations?

Thanks,
Brian P. Bailey
