Just bought a new laptop during installing third party software it hanged end
up using recovery disk came with the unit and re-installed Window Home
XP..but to my surprise ater the installation when I started the computer it
prompted me to select one out of the two Windows XP shown after restarting so
I selected one system started normally and works perfect nothing happed to
the orginally installed Windows XP nor any new software installed was
deleted. Now my question is a million dollar question how do I get ride of
the other Windows XP just sitting there each time I restart it asks me which
one I need to use..this is giving me nightmare..could any one help me to
remove this atleast it should not prompt me to select one of the two...much
appreciated.

Actually, I doubt you actually have two installations of XP on your computer. I suspect that you have two entries in your Master Boot Record. To "fix" the MBR follow this:

For FIXBOOT HELP, paste the followwing line into Start | Run and click OK...


hh bootcons.chm::/bootcons_fixboot.htm


FixbootWrites a new partition boot sector to the system partition. The
fixboot command is only available when you are using the Recovery Console.


For FIXMBR HELP, paste the followwing line into Start | Run and click OK...


hh bootcons.chm::/bootcons_fixmbr.htm


FixmbrRepairs the master boot record of the boot disk. The fixmbr command is
only available when you are using the Recovery Console.
