Disable/Enable Network Card

Is there a way, via WMI or VBScript, etc to enable/disable network
cards? I want to do it on win98, win2k, win xp..etc.

I have a seen a way where someone used vbscript/wsh to get a hold of
the "Network Connections" folder, then enable disable the
connections...but this is a bit hacky and doesn't work for win98 b/c
they dont have a "network connections" folder like win2k/winxp.
