OK but I can instantly see problems with this:

1. Users these days are trained to always answer "No" when it say "Do
you want to install a dumb ActiveX control from dodgy company XYZ".

2. On networks, many administrators will disallow this kind of thing.

3. XP SP2 may have tightened this up - I don't know.

4. You'd need a certificate from a certification authority.

OK, but you still haven't explained how this code would work even on
your own local computer (*) logged in as an Administrator, let alone on
someone else's who is logged in as a user?

Using what protocol? Do you mean email, or some kind of http PUT operation?
