You obviously won't be able to use System Restore but re-installing over the
current installation would be fine. If the issue is a WMI repository
corruption then a faster option is to move or delete the repository to force
an auto-recover of its default state. Assuming the error persists after
reboot, a repository corruption is likely. Here is how to auto-recover:
open a command window (start > cmd.exe)
- type "net stop winmgmt"
- type "cd %windir%\system32\wbem"
- type "ren repository repository.old" (or alternatively delete it)
Then try your operation again. It may take a minute or so to complete while
WMI rebuilds the database.
