There is a more current version that came on WinXP install media (same
location) however it doesn't fix any of the issues you mention below, it has
some minor updates but none to functionality.

There are no plans (currently at least) to update the ODBC driver for WMI.
This driver has been removed from Win2k3 server going forward.
