Record From Mitel

I am re-programming an application to work with computers that have Mitel
Your Assistant installed, using TAPI via Exceletel. This application works
ok using voice modems. (This application is used to manage Market Research
surveys where the lists of people to be called, and the survey results are
held in a database).
I have got the dialling part of the programme working OK but am having
problems with the recording. As soon as I start the recording the voice of
the Callee sounds broken up to the Caller and this broken up sound is what
appears on the recording. The Caller's voice sounds OK to the Callee but it
is not recorded.
Has anyone any ideas of what could be causing this or how to get over it
please?
I feel that there must be some simple setting that I need to change to get
this working, because the recording function on the softphones works fine.
The system has Plantronics usb headsets - I'm going to test this morning
with non-usb headsets in case the usb interface has any effect.
