Using Microsoft RemoteTSP, do the client computers need to be in the same
domain as the Telephony server? Basically, does RemoteTSP use the Microsoft
file sharing or security mechanisms? I hope not because it will make it
more complex for us to deploy.
Also does anyone know if RemoteTSP uses a socket connection? If so which
port? Or some file sharing protocols?
Angus,
See my TAPI and TSPI FAQ:
Q: What is the Microsoft® TAPI client / server architecture ?
http://www.i-b-a-m.de/Andreas_Marschall's_TAPI_and_TSPI_FAQ.htm#_Q:_What_is_10
TCP port 251 on client side is required for RemoteSP.TSP for RPC to/from
Telephony server.
In addition the ports for "File and Printer Sharing" need to be exlcuded from
firewall too to get MS TAPI client/ server architecture working.
It is sufficient to enable "File and Printer Sharing".
This affects the ports TCP 139 (NetBIOS Session), TCP 445 (SMB), UDP 137
(NetBIOS Name), and UDP 138 (NetBIOS Netlogon and Browsing).
Furthermore see MS KB articles 179442, 154596, and 841802.
TCMSETUP option /X
- tcmsetup with /x option means that the server will send events to client via
RPC function calls using tcp/ip.
- tcmsetup without /x option means that the server will send asynchronous
events to the client using mail slots (UDP)
