Hi,
I want to distinguish data call to audio call.
I think this is never possible for an incoming call and no
device or software could do such a thing because:
- A human caller ususally does not start talking after
the called party has answered the call, so no way
to use voice energy detection
- A calling data modem tries to detec a carrier signal from
the called modem but afaik does not send anything, so
no way to detect anything here either
Only thing you could detect is a fax machine because a
calling fax machine sends a tone even if the remote side
does nothing.
Why not rather play a short message ("Please press 1...")
and detect DTMF digits. If no digit is received after n seconds,
handoff to the data application or switch to data mode.
