Re: Dialogic 4pci -- real code wanted

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Telephony code is among most complex and cranky pieces because it deals with hardware and ever changiung firmware. The reason you don't find open-source telephony software (save Asterix) is that the amount of engineering support required for something like it boggles one's mind and makes doing this for free impractical. It's a full time job for a company with QA and engineering department. And before you mention open source operating systems - unfortunately the quality of hardware/drivers in telephony world is way inferior to that of a PC itself

Well. With due respect to all, Open Source is meant for people to take a
baseline and expand on top of it. Otherwise, We wouldn't be having "IE"
or Netscape". Jim clark didn't develop netscape from scratch, was he
lazy?....hmmm.

Also, I do understand that real time applications are not easy to develop
and that's why we third party vendors who are doing a great job. I don't
want to mention them here as I am evaluating them.

Sorry for people who got offended. It is not intentional. But the sorry
state of affairs are sometimes frustrating.

Sankar,
I disagree, some software developers actually enjoy this part of their job
too.
It may depend on expertise...

Well, it seems that you are looking for a free / open source solution that
exactly fits your needs, so that you don't have to do any development on
your
own?!
Btw a free billing software sounds funny ;-)
