The comment at http://www.voiceguide.com/forums_archive/f2_t28.htm is NOT an
indication that "TAPI does not support USB modems".
It meant to be taken as advice on what type of modem we'd consider as a
preferred choice.
We have seen a number of issues with USB and "WinSoft" type modems - and
after observing and looking into these ourselves and taking into account
feedback from customers the opinion we've formed is that users of USB and
"WinSoft" type voice modems seem to have a higher probability of
encountering Wave driver related issues on their system.
The various customer feedback reports which led us to forming of this option
