In Hyperterminal (or whatever terminal mode program) try dialing using
ATDT5551234 and see if you get similar Connected/Disconnected results.
Then try setting the S Register and dialing again. Any better?
When you open the line, Unimodem will sent the configured modem init
string, which may destroy previous settings. If you know the setting is
what you want, you can try modifying your init string to send it.
