LINEERR_INVALADDRESSSTATE Error

I am using VB6.0 to make an app that will record the caller id information.
Whenever I call
lineSetStatusMessages(m_hLine, LINEDEVSTATE_RINGING, 0)
I get returned LINEERR_INVALADDRESSSTATE. Any clues has to why this is
happening. If I set up the same in TB2.0 it works.
