Thanks for your reply, Andreas - sorry I have not responded sooner.
I *think* the problem occurs on mobjTAPI.Initialize but I cannot
confirm this at present.
Because we are using the application in house while it is further
developed, we occasionally need to update files. This upsets windows
installer if we have used it to install the application. However, if
we do not install the application this way but manually copy the files
we need to run it instead, we can update application files without
encountering windows installer problems. This is when we get the TAPI
problem though - when the app is manually installed. If we install
the application with windows installer, TAPI works fine. This leads
me to believe that the installer is installing a file or
creating/setting a registry key that TAPI needs. However, the
installer installs thousands of files and so finding out what it is
doing that fixes the problem is not realistically possible.
We have had this error twice, both times on windows 2000 machines
(with the latest SPs). One of these machines has since been upgraded
to XP and the other has since had the application installed on it so I
cannot now reproduce the problem.
It looks like I will have to clean down a test machine and then try to
reproduce the error.
