As I said, early versions of UuidCreate() used to use the MAC address of the
NIC card in formulating the UUID. I believe it originally was the trailing
digits of the UUID. This was later changed so that it was not possible to
discern this information by viewing the UUID, so you are out of luck.

I vaguely recall that there is a way of obtaining the hard drive
manufacturer id from the drive. You might try reposting this question in
microsoft.public.windowsxp.hardware
