Agreed on that. It was an initial naive approach but it just surprised me
that it worked without giving an error or crashing somewhere since the worker
thread didn't initially call CoInitializeEx() at all.
Thanks for all your patience and help. It would be nice if doing the wrong
thing didn't occasionally seem to yield the desired result :).
