Re: First UDP message to a specific IP gets lost

The observation is very likely a consequence of the greater resource
consumption of the XP style vs. the classic style in windows explorer.
Since UDP is unreliable, the system is free to (and does) drop packets when
resources are low.

Don't panic and change your wallpaper! It won't help ;)

I have seen significant improvements in UDP receiving after switching it
to the "Classic" look! :(

Are you serious?
If thats true I will also try to change my background picture next time I
have a mysterious bug.

I have now tested the very same executables with two Vista Computers and
guess what - it works.
Maybe it's an outdated Windows XP Problem.
The computers I have to work with are for presentation purposes running
with
a 2 year old windows XP that is not updated

XP has a setting that lets you switch it to "Windows Classic" appearance,
which turns off some of the eye candy. I have seen significant
improvements in UDP receiving after switching it to the "Classic" look!
:(
